Celebrating 10 Years and the Volunteers

Celebrating 10 Years and the Volunteers

by Marcie Velen / Sunday, 20 November 2022 / Published in Blog

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS

THE PEOPLE, THE ARMY OF COMPASSION

In the begining, LeeAnne Savage  organized the Just One Day event on June 11,th 2012, a national call to action for all shelters/rescues to make a pledge to halt unnecessary ‘euthanasia’ for just ONE day and on focus on alternatives like adoption events instead.  Advocates gathered and some began to meet and ‘organize’ including: LeeAnne Savage, Jeanette Regan, Marcie Velen, Jessica Shuman, Dawn Mathews-Rasnake, Kimberley Walker and Jenica Anagnostou.  We received consultation from Trish Manes of No Kill Maricopa and as time went on we had further leadership from Mike Santos, Kim Silver, Vicki Fein and Justin Pope.  Soon we had many volunteers working in multiple committees and thankfully, Alisha Escoto who set up a beautiful website, technical support and more from Ken Anders and microchipping galore from Katie Faust.

The army of compassion grew as animal advocates attended community meetings, formed and joined committees and volunteered in a number of ways- from tabling community events and doing the research for the resource directory to organizing events to support rescues, handling PACC dogs at offsite adoptions or The Morning Blend, manning the Help Desk at PACC, organizing the Savethesaveable marketing campaign or manning the microchip events. This list does not include everyone who came to a community meeting or supported us with funding/donations (more on those to come soon).

Still, we are sure volunteers are missing from this list of 70
and we DO hope
you’ll speak up if you belong on this list
so we can correct our error!
