Best Friends Animal Society

The Best Friends link includes the following BEHAVIOR HELPLINES:

  • University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine Behavior Clinic  (215) 898-3347  If the clinic is not open at the time of your call, their recorded message will give you their call-in hours for the week.
  • Denver Dumb Friends League  At http://www.ddfl.org/ , click on the Education menu and then “Behavior Helpline.” You’ll be directed to the Animal Behavior Helpline Online Counsel Request Form, which you can use to reach a trained behavior counselor at the Dumb Friends League. The counselor will contact you by phone or e-mail (whichever you choose) to help solve the behavior problem you’re experiencing. Expect a response within two to four days. This service is free.
  • Feline Health Center, Cornell University Dr. Louis J. Camuti Feline Consultation and Diagnostic Service (800) KITTYDR   They are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and 2 to 4 pm EST, except holidays. You will be charged a fee.
  • The Best Friends link also includes information about what to do when the Behavior Helpline hasn’t helped. Sherry Woodard, Best Friends’ animal consultant, writes about alternatives, such as consulting with:
    • a traditional or holistic veterinarian
    • a pet trainer
    • a behavior counselor
    • a certified applied animal behaviorist
    • a board-certified veterinary behaviorist
